About
The NC State Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteer program of Cleveland County is a network of more than 70 community volunteers who share a passion for gardening, learning, and service. Active since 2011, our trained volunteers work through N.C. Cooperative Extension to provide research-based gardening information and educational programs to help Cleveland County residents successfully care for their lawns, landscapes, and gardens.
Master Gardener volunteers serve our community through educational programs, plant sales, gardening events, pollinator initiatives, farmers’ markets, the Cleveland County Fair, community and school gardens, beautification projects, and the development of the Dotty Leatherwood Botanical Gardens at Hanna Park. No previous horticultural experience is required to become a Master Gardener—just an interest in learning, gardening, and giving back to the community.
